Actual surname is Mayston - see http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=nswconvictindents&h=124224&indiv=try. Most criminal records refer to Mason but he used Mayston after he was granted a pardon in 1843 (see http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=nswpardons&h=29282&indiv=try)
