1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

Absconded. M'Cabe Owen, Waterloo, 31-721, 20, Louth, errand boy, 5 feet 3½, ruddy freckled comp. light brown hair, blue eyes, small mark of scar on right side of forehead, from No. 10 Road Party, Since 6th May. NSW Govt Gazette, 28 May 1834.




Owen M'Cabe indicted for stealing a pig, the property of Philip Gargan, in the month of March last. Phillip Gargan, the prosecutor – Lost a pig in March last ; found it afterwards in the possession of Nicholas Carroll. Witness lives In the County of Meath about four miles from where Carroll lives ; had the pig for a considerable length of of time, and paid 295. shillings for it. Nicholas Carroll—Stated that the prisoner was a labouring boy, and had lodged with him ; that on the11th March last, he left witness’s house, and said he was going to the fair of Carlingford, which was to be held the next day to buy a pig; and he returned the next day and had the pig which the prosecutor claimed as his with him, for which said he paid 18s. Witness brought the prosecutor to Ardee where the prisoner was, who said he would not give the pig unless got the 18s. which he said gave for it. The Jury without leaving the box found the prisoner guilty, who was sentenced to be transported for seven years. Drogheda Journal, 24 July 1830
