Nell Murphy on 28th May, 2016 wrote:
John McDermott was convicted at Cawnpore, East India 10 April 1837 for mutinous conduct by striking his Superior Officer and making away with his Regimental necessaries. Had served 17 yrs in military service. 7yr transportation sentence. Behaviour in Calcutta Gaol was good. Transported to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) on the ship ‘Guillardon’, which carried passengers and 18 convicts to Hobart, arriving 11 March 1838.
