In November 1844 at the High Court of Justiciary, Mary McEwan pleaded guilty to theft on 18 July 1844 of a watch by pickpocket (no further details) and received transportation for 7 years - see Scotsman newspaper 6 November 1844 p 4 on 'High Court of Justiciary'. Married William Collard Smith (free man) 28 Jun 1847 at Oatlands district, Tasmania. Moved to Bendoc, died 29 Mar 1892, buried at Delegate, N.S.W. Had 8 children.
