He was tried for highway robbery, in August 1799 at Manchester-captured in April 1800, of W (Wyatt) at Chester Lancaster Assizes on 14 8 1800, sentenced to death commuted to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 16 12 1810 after a voyage of 5.5months on INDIAN; he was Catholic. He married Catherine (Kennedy) of Castlereagh on 30 3 1815 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. He was recorded in 1828 as farmer at Evan with his family. Patrick M'Keand, alias M'Can, was found guilty of assaulting and robbing W. Wyatt, on the King's highway, at Manchester. The prosecutor had been drinking with the prisoner, together with two or three others, late in the evening, at a public-house, during which he had been challenged several times by the prisoner to toss for pints of ale ; at last he consented, and lost; which pint the prisoner and the other men drank together. When morning was near approaching, the landlord, for certain reasons, desired the men and a woman who had been in company with the prosecutor, to go about their business, when the when the prisoner and the others went out of the house, but the prisoner and two others stopped near the door ; the landlord endeavoured to persuade the prosecutor to stay all night at his house, as he had a considerable way to return home, but he swore he would go, and in consequence went, taking with him his wallet After he had walked some distance along a the road, the moon at the same time being near the full, and accordingly shining very bright, he found himself slapped on one side by a man, who took from his shoulder the bag; and turning his head, he could see sufficiently to identify the prisoner; after that, somebody pulled his hat over his face, so that he could see no more, but someone lifted him up, while the others rifled his pockets, and took his watch from him. He afterwards was tripped up by the prisoner, and lay there till some persons took took him back to Manchester. This happened in August last, and the prisoner was not taken up till April, at Chester Assizes. Lancaster Gazette, 19 Aug 1809. LANCASTER ASSIZES. Royal Admiral, 1792) and his wife Ann, nèe Grant (Came Free, Royal Admiral, 1792). Patrick was aged 28 and Catherine 19 when they married. The couple had 12 children between 1816 and 1840.
