In November 1844 at the High Court of Justiciary, Janes McKenzie, Agnes Marshall, Alexander Duff and Alexander Hogg were convicted of assault & robbery on 'a male from Northumerland in a eating house in Hyndford Close off the High Street and stealing £1/19/p-' (no further detail) and all accused received transportation for 14 years - see Scotsman newspaper 9 November 1844 p 3 on 'High Court of Justiciary'. However, there no trace of Alexander Hogg on Convict Records being transported. See also McGowan, John (2022) Policing the Metropolis of Scotland, 1833-1861 (Edinburgh City Archives) Volume 1, p 1337.
