KILKENNY ASSIZES. CITY COURT. The were 41 notices on the City Crown Book. The following convictions have taken place: … Daniel MacLaine alias Donald M'Laine for having, near the New Barracks, on the King’s high way, attacked Thomas Purcell, and feloniously took from his person one coat, of the value of 5s. the property of the said Thomas Purcell. The prisoner is soldier of the 73d foot, now quartered at Kilkenny. Sentence of death was recorded against him, but Judge Burton said, as no act of violence was attendant upon the robbery, he would recommend the prisoner to the consideration of Government, upon the terms of transportation for life.
