Glasgow Chronicle newspaper dated Wed 19th September 1849 Glasgow Autumn Circuit Court Thurs 13th Sept 1849 Thomas McMahon was next placed at bar on a charge of bigamy, in so far as on the 23rd of April 1832 he having been lawfully married to Mary Murphy, in the house of Rev. Bernard Loughran, parish priest of Killeavy which marriage still subsisted, he did again on the 4th July 1848 enter into matrimonial connection with Elizabeth McCoubrough, Malta street, Gorbals, Glasgow, the marriage having been performed by Rev. John Shaw Roman Catholic clergyman of St Marys chapel, Carlton, panel pleaded guilty; sentence to 7 years transportation
