Trial 29 Mar 1848 for stealing 140 lbs of butter Family: mother Margaret; brother John; half sister Margaret (at Belfast) Desc: 5'9.25" tall, can read & write a little, RC, single, red/brown/grey hair, 2 moles on right cheekbone, scar by left eyebrow, scar back of left hand, nose injured Trade: paviour (person who lays paving stones) Ship Surgeon Sick List 7 Feb - 14 Feb 1851, diarrhoea & dysentery. Discharged, well TOL 25 Oct 1852 CP recommended 1 Nov 1852, approved 4 Oct 1853 Married Catherine Gorman (arrived VDL per Waverley with her mother & 2 siblings, not as a convict) 20 Feb 1855 in Hobart. There were 9 children from marriage between 1856-1876. Police Gazette Offences: 22 Jan 1875 - 21 Apr 1875 at Hobart for unlawfully beating. Received 3 months at Hobart Town. 7 Feb 1888 - 24 Aug 1892 Supreme Court Hobart for manslaughter. An inquest was held 3 Jan 1888 on the death of Catherine Gorman, aged 65, she had been murdered by her husband. He had already been charged in 1858 with assault on his wife with intent to do her some grevious bodily harm & was remanded. For her manslaughter he received 6 years imprisonment at Hobart. 22 Aug 1893 - 5 Sep 1893 at Launceston for assault. Received 7 days at Launceston. Died 1900 in Launceston
