Abraham Mendoza was transported on the Morley, departing 31st Oct 1816 and arriving 10th Apr 1817 with 177 passengers.
The "Morley" was built on the Thames, England in 1811. Convicts were transported to New South Wales on the Morley in 1817, 1818, 1820, 1828 and 1829 and to Van Diemen's Land in 1820 and 1823. 1829 Voyage. 200 Male English Convicts. Commander; Harrison. Richard Lewis; Surgeon Superintendent arrived 2 Dec 1829. All convicts survived the voyage.

Abraham's brother Isaac and sister Sophia were also transported to Australia, serving their time in Tasman. Another sister, Matilda Simmons, migrated here with her family. On 3rd September, 1897, she had the following in memorial notice printed in the Evening News, Sydney - MENDOZA.— In fond remembrance of my dear father, Daniel Mendoza, champion of England, who departed this life, September 3, 1833. Inserted by his only living daughter, Matilda Simmons.




Abraham Mendoza was the first son of Daniel Mendoza, the great boxing champion of England.
Abraham was indicted in the old bailey on 11/4/1810 for stealing a silk handkerchief, value 2s., the property of Wi8lliam Hinckston - found Not Guilty. 10/7/1816:now aged 22 he was sentenced to death for assaulting Joseph Wood and stealing from him a 15l., watch, a chain 4l., 2 seals 30s., and a key 5s. Col.Sec. 18/4/1817: On list of convicts desembarked from the 'Morley' and forwarded to Liverpool for distribution. 1819: Servant to Henry Adcock: shoemaker. Died at the age of 51 at the General Hospital Sydney.
