Bethia MITCHELL was convicted at Dorset, England on 31 Dec 1833 for house breaking. Life sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Arab' arriving 25 April 1836. VDL: Assigned to work services. Several records of misconduct and punishments, including being sent to the House of Correction. 4 July 1848: Conditional Pardon approved. Married Allen RISBY. CHILDREN: 16 Feb 1856 - William John RISBY born at Hobart. Father Allen Risby, seaman. Mother Bethia Mitchell, Harrington St. Hobart. 16 Jan 1862 - Ellen RISBY (indexed as "Wisby") born at Hobart.
