John Monaghan was convicted at Monaghan, Ireland on 10 April 1847 for stealing 4 bags of oats. First conviction. 7 yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) on the ship ‘Blenheim’ arriving 2 Feb 1849.

Married man, wife Judith; 4 children; herdsman; age 30yrs; can read & write; 5’6”; Roman Catholic.
Native place - Co. Monaghan, Ireland.

Ticket of Leave
Certified Free 18 April 1854.
