Old Bailey: THOMAS MONKHOUSE, Theft > pocketpicking, 15th September 1819. Offence: Theft > pocketpicking Verdict: Guilty Punishment: Transportation THOMAS MONKHOUSE was indicted for stealing, on the 3d of September, one handkerchief, value 4 s., the goods of Jeremiah Harrige, from his person. Prisoner. I was in distress. GUILTY Aged 22. Transported for Life. Occupation: Baker and Rulemaker. 2/5/1829: General Sessions, Bathurst: Runaway and suspected of robbing John Connolly's hut - Sentenced to 3 years transportation and was sent to Moreton Bay. Thomas was then described as: 30 years old, 5'5" tall, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes. 14/1/1833: Returned to Sydney from Moreton Bay. 1840: TOL Campbelltown 1843: TOL Berrima 1844: Married Sarah Smith at St. Andrew's, Sydney. 1844: Mary A Monkhouse born. 10/7/1850: CP Publican's Licences: 30/4/1853 MONKHOUSE Thomas - Ashfield Cottage, Liverpool Road, District of Sydney 26/4/1855 MONKHOUSE Thomas - Cottage of Content, The Liverpool Road, District of Sydney 29/4/1856 MONKHOUSE Thomas - The Traveller's Home, Ashfield, Liverpool Road, District of Sydney 31/8/1874: Thomas Monkhouse died at Wellington, NSW. Deceased was an old colonist over 50 years, and for many years was a resident of Ashfield. 1876: Sarah Monkhouse married John Thomas Watson at Wellington.
