Catherine Murphy's last born child was named Maurice Ralph, died 3rd July 1905 aged 34 years at Fremantle Cemetry. His sister Mary Ann married Walter Dove and moved to WA, the family remain there.

Catherine Murphy was convicted at the CCC, London on 20 Aug 1849 of Assault - cutting and wounding George Reynolds, a shopkeeper at Petticoat Lane. She was given a 7yr Transportation sentence. Catherine departed 17 Dec 1849 on the 'St. Vincent, voyage 2, arriving Hobart, Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on 4 April 1850. (She had previous convictions.) Convict no. 1063. Single, 18 yrs of age. Roman Catholic. could read and write. Native Place: Boston, England. 5'1 1/4"; fresh complexion; brown hair; hazel eyes. Housemaid. Assigned to Brickfields Depot. 1 Sep 1850 Application to marry Thomas Cockeran (convict per 'Emily'). (Did not proceed.) Recorded in Muster 21 Jan 1851 at Launceston. 14 May 1851 delivered of a male child named Joseph Murphy (father's name not recorded) at Brickfields. Birth ref. 443/1851-33. 6mths hard labour at Cascades Female Factory. 12 Jun 1851 before the Police Magistrate. 29 Sep 1852 Ticket of Leave. 30 May 1853 Married Morris RALPH at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hobart. Both aged 23yrs. Ref. 730/1853-37. 24 Aug 1853 Drunk. 3 mths hard labour. 28 Aug 1853 Cascades Female Factory, Hobart. 2 Sep 1853 Not to reside in Hobart district. 8 Nov 1853 Released to husband. 2 Dec 1854 Disturbing the Peace. 4mths Hard Labour, Cascades Female Factory, Hobart. Infirmary. 12 June 1855 Conditional Pardon 20 Aug 1856 Free by Servitude 11 May 1857 Certificate of Freedom. Father: John Murphy.
