Put on sick list, 27 April 1844. Discharged, 15 June 1844. 505. Mary Murphy, 1st, alias McPolan, tried at Down, 28th June 1843, 7 years, transported for larceny. Gaol report middling. Single. Stealing 3 pigs property of James McCarthy. Once for leaving my child, 2 months. Surgeon’s report, Middling. Roman catholic. House and kitchen maid. Age 29, native of Down. This woman has a child in the Orphan School. Various incidents recorded on her conduct sheet. Supreme Court, Hobart Town, 6 December 1848, Wilful murder of a male child by administering opium. Not guilty. 6 months probation, Cascades factory. Discharged from the H. of C.(House of Correction) to her T. of L, but she is not to be allowed to reside in the district of Hobart Town.
