Hamlet was baptised on 23 May 1790 at the Manchester Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire, England. He was the son of Dan Newton(Schoolmaster) & Ellen Caldwell. Hamlet fathered 3 Illegitimate children. A daughter named Mary, born abt 1807 in Newton in Makerfield, Lancashire, to Mary Taylor, spinster of Orrell, Lancashire. And 2 sons, Ralph, born 1815 & George, born 1817, to Alice Cobb. Salford Easter Sessions. – Saturday.  Hamlet Newton 30 was indicted tor stealing /lbs. of cotton and 'of spun cotton, the property of Edward Stansfield. appeared that on the 11th January, the prosecutor having left his cart (in which were two bundles containing the articles stated the indictment) standing for about hour in the yard of Mr. Midwood, the carrier in this town, the prisoner came up and ….
