N.B. There are two persons named Daniel O’Brien on this sailing of the ‘Blenheim’ 1848/49.
Daniel O’Brien was convicted of assaulting a man, at Limerick, Ireland on 1st April 1847. First conviction. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) per the ‘Blenheim’ arriving 2 Feb 1849.
Aged 31 yrs; a farm labourer; married man, 3 children; 5’6 1/2”; fresh complexion; dk brown hair; grey eyes; Roman Catholic; can read & write.
Native place of birth: Co. Limerick, Ireland.
Wife: Katherine, at native place
Brothers: John & James
Sisters: Nancy, Margaret (at London) & Mary. (ref. Convict Indent record)
Conduct Record -
1 Oct 1850: Ticket of Leave revoked as he was absent from Muster.
10 Dec 1850: at Mr. Grey’s, Fingal - drunk. Fined.
