Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

The convict indentures states that Francis O'Brien is 16 years old. He could read and write: religion Roman Catholic; status single and is a native of Dublin. He was an errand boy. Francis was convicted of shop lifting at Dublin City on 25 January 1836 and sentenced for 7 years. He had one prior convictions and served 9 months. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 0 inches; complexion ruddy and freckled; hair brown and eyes hazel. Transport number 53. Prisoner number 36-1858. Received ticket of leave in 1842 (number 42/31). Received Certificate of Freedom in 1843 (number 43/2108).
