John O’BRIEN was convicted at Limerick, Ireland on 5 July 1836 for stealing money. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to New South Wales, Australia per the ship ‘Earl Grey’.
Several records of misconduct and severe punishments.
16 March 1842: Tried at Windsor, NSW for Burglary. Life sentence. Stated he was an assigned servant at the dwelling house of Rev. Mc xxx
Transferred to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) per the ship ‘Waterlily”.
Native place of birth: Limerick, Ireland.
Sent to the Port Arthur Penal Settlement.
1849: Pass Holder.
