25/3/1819 Exeter Flying Post Devon, England: DEVON ASSIZES Richard Oldrey, for stealing a yacht, &c. Colonial Secretary Papers: OLDREY, Richard. Per "Dromedary", 1820 1822 May 20:Re arrival from Van Diemen's Land for trial (Reel 6009; 4/3505 p.312) 1822 Jun 1-18: Sentenced to death. In reports of prisoners tried at Court of Criminal Jurisdiction; listed as Olrey (Reel 6023; X820 p.55) 1822 Jul 31: Convict from Van Diemen's Land sentenced to death for robbery of house of Richard Burrows (Reel 6009; 4/3506 pp.116-7) 1822 Aug 16: Executed; listed as Obrey (Reel 6070; 4/1265 p.39)




Richard Oldrey was 30 years old on arrival in VDL. Nothing on his conduct record. Richard was 5'7 1/4" tall, brown air and eyes, man, woman and hears and crown pricked on right arm, man, woman 1819 RO and MH on left. 16/8/1822: Richard was hung for the robbery at Captain Wood's at Clyde and for the assault and robbery at Richard Burrows' and Mr Williams at Sorell river.
