Further offence in Australia: Terence O'Neill had left VDL after his Pardon and was in Port Phillip Victoria. He was tried and convicted at the Melbourne Supreme Court on 24/04/1844 for uttering a forged cheque. Life sentence. Returned to Van Diemen's Land on the 'Flying Squirrel' 17/06/1844. Married man - wife Margaret at native place. Labourer; Protestant; read & write; 28yrs of age; 5'5 3/4"; fair complexion; dk brown hair; Hazel eyes. Native Place - Castlebar, Co. Mayo 3yrs Probation period at Port Arthur penal settlement. Previous sentence noted, as per 'Eden'. Had left VDL on the 'Isabella' and been employed as a labourer in Victoria until this offence. 19/12/1844: Misconduct, in having tobacco in his possession. 1 mth hard labour, in chains. 23/12/1844: Misconduct. 25 lashes. 07/02/1845: Misconduct. 6 weeks hard labour, in chains. 17/03/1845: Absent without leave. Existing sentence extended 1 mth. 07/11/1845: Having in his possession, meat. 6mths hard labour, in chains. 10/12/1845: Disobedience of orders. Existing sentence extended 14 days. 26/12/1845: Having flint in his possession. Existing sentence extended 1 mth. 14/10/1846: Having tobacco in his possession. 3mths hard labour, in chains. 16/01/1847: Misconduct. 4 days solitary. 15/04/1848: assigned to Walker. Existing sentence of hard labour extended 3mths. 20/11/1854: Abscond. 18mths hard labour, in chains. To serve at Port Arthur. 19/01/1855: Insolence. 14 days solitary and to serve 6mths in a separate prison. 20/06/1856: 6 mths of sentence remitted. 03/12/1856: Drunkeness. 1mth hard labour. 12/02/1857: Hobart. Abscond. 30 days solitary. 30/06/1857: TICKET OF LEAVE GRANTED. 23/03/1858: Ticket of Leave Revoked.

Terrance O'Neill (records are Neill 'O)was convicted of mutiny and drunkenness at Halifax, Nova Scotia - drawing a bayonet at his Sergeant. Had been tried 3 times previously in the Regiment. 6 weeks solitary, 200 lashes. Married, wife Margaret at native place - Castlebar. One child. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Eden', arriving 22/12/1836. 27/12/1836: Prison Barracks - gambling. 6mths hard labour on the roads. 02/05/1837: Out after hours, drunk & representing himself to be free. 10 days on Tread Wheel. 17/07/1837: Absent without leave & returned drunk. 4mths hard labour, in chains. 31/01/1838: Striking a fellow prisoner & disorderly conduct. 3mths hard labour at Spring Hill and Picton. 30/05/1838: Free Pardon, no. 339.
