National Archives. Criminal Petitions. HO 17/59/138. Date: 1832 July. 2 collective petitions (8 people and 10 people from Carlton, Suffolk) on behalf of John Parker convicted at Suffolk Quarter Sessions Ipswich in July 1832 for stealing 2 bushels of barley, property of Francis Skoulding from Kelsale, Suffolk. Grounds for clemency: wife and 6 children will be destitute and forced to live on parish relief. Initial sentence: 7 years' transportation. Gaoler's report: character indifferent in prison before. Annotated: nil. KR 28. --------------------------------------------------------------------- On Friday last the six following convicts were removed from Ipswich County Gaol, to be put on board the Leviathan Hulk at Portsmouth, viz. Robt. Stringer, Thomas Corbold, and David Corbold, to be transported for 14 years; and Wm. Howard, Samuel Whiting, and John Parker, for 7 years. Bury and Norwich Post, 8 Aug 1832.
