William PASS (recorded as "PAFS" was convicted at Stafford, England on 13 March 1828 for Bigamy. Previous offence for stealing meat. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Georgiana' arriving 1829. Wife Ann and 1 child at Burslem, nr Stoke-on-Trent, England. Stated he had worked for James Dean of Burslem and drove a team. Aged 22yrs. 5'6". Stationed at Prison Barracks. Some records of minor misconduct. Last notation 1833. 1835: Conditional Pardon approved. A William Pass married Mary Milliner in 1835 at Longford, VDL. He was recorded as "free" but this can also mean "free by servitude". (The other convicts named William Pass came to the Colony in latter years, so may have been this man.)
