The ship 'Globe' was built in Scarborough, England in 1810. 363 tons. Rig Type S. Transported 140 male convicts (1 death recorded) from Portsmouth, England, departing September 1818, route Madeira, to Port Jackson, New South Wales, Australia. Arrived 8 January 1819. Master Joseph Blythe. Surgeon George Clayton. Several youths onboard. Many of the men had been held on the Hulks 'Captivity' & 'Laurel' where they had lessons to improve their literary and Bible studies. A Guard of the 34th Regiment and some wives accompanied them. There was also listed 4 or 5 free passenters. About 84 of the convicted men were later transferred to Port Dalyrmple (George Town), Van Diemen's Land in the February of that year, per the ship 'Elizabeth & Henrietta'.

Richard, aged 15, was transported along with his brother, James, aged 13 - no crime listed. James died at Bathurst in 1835. Colonial Secretary Papers: PASSMORE, Richard. Per "Globe", 1819 1821 Sep 8: Employed at the New Lumber Yard. On list of all persons victualled from H.M. Magazines (Reel 6016; 4/5781 p.94) 1825 Apr 21: Convict at Van Diemen's Land claiming certificate of freedom; re transmission of his description and sentence to Hobart (Reel 6019; 4/3522 p.134) June 1822: Arrived VDL per 'Castle Forbes'. Richard was 5'1" tall, light brown hair, blue eyes. Occupation: Wheelwrights boy. 15/7/1825: COF 25/2/1826 Hobart Town Gazette: Richard Passmore and Frederick Barker, convicted of sheep stealing, were reprieved from the gallows. 22/12/1834: Disobeyance of orders, recommended to be removed to Port Arthur for the purpose of assisting in the completion of the new school there. 1835 Muster: Transported to Port Arthur. 26/3/1836: TOL 30/6/1839: Permission to marry Janet Thorn (West Moreland) He was listed as Free - no registration found. 1840: Free Certificate. 3/9/1842: Richard died aged 39 (Free by Servitude) Registered at Hobart. Listed as Pasmore.
