John Patching was transported on the Waterloo, departing 18th Nov 1834 and arriving 3rd Mar 1835 with 226 passengers.
1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

John Patching was 24 years old on arrival - he was born at Brighton. John was 5'5" tall, brown hair, blue eyes, single, Boat & anchor inside rt arm - Moon, 7 Stars left arm JP. back left hand Diamond anchor star &c Same hand both middle fingers marked Scar left side chin. 15/5/1839: TOL 1841: Free Certificate. 20/11/1842: Married Mary Ann Miles (Listed as Miley) at St Joseph's, Launceston - they had 11 children, mostly in the Coleraine/Hamilton area of Victoria. (Mary Ann emigrated on the 'Westminster' in 1841 to Port Phillip with her aunt and uncle Bridget and Walter Murtagh. They spent about 6 years in VDL then they all moved back to Victoria). At his marriage John was listed as 25 years old and a domestic servant. 9/2/1847: Departed Launceston to Portland Bay per 'Minerva' - Free by Servitude (Ship to colony: Waterloo). 1861: Licensed Carrier at Coleraine. 2/7/1885: John Patching died at Coleraine, Victoria.
