Glasgow Chronicle newspaper dated Wednesday 6th Oct 1847 James Peden was convicted of having on the 17th of June last, stolen from Craigton house Parish of Govan occupied by Henry Dunlop, merchant, a quantity of Lead measuring 16 feet in length by 23 inches in breadth as also a bed tick, aggravated by being habit and repute of thief, and previous convictions, he was sentence to 7 years transportation
