National Archives. Criminal Petition. HO 17/51/291832 Aug 17 Prisoner name: Thomas Perry. Prisoner age: 20. Court and date of trial: Salop Summer Assizes August 1832. Crime: Housebreaking in the house of James Onions and stealing a pair of half-boots. Initial sentence: Death, commuted to transportation for Life. Gaoler's report: Character good. Annotated (Outcome): Nil. Petitioner(s): Mary Hackett, mother of the prisoner, and others, former employers and neighbours, who have known the prisoner for several years. Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): This was a first offence by a young man well regarded by many who knew him as an industrious and honest young man.

Thomas was the son of Thomas Perry and Elizabeth Bennett. 1841: TOL Braidwood 1842: TOL Braidwood 1/3/1848: CP 21/5/1853: Married Elizabeth Ellen Hart at Araluen. They had 12 children. 20/8/1863: Thomas was declared insolvent. Thomas died in Colinton near Cooma
