On arrival in the colony, Thoams was assigned to Pierce Collits (Convict, 1810, “Minorca”) as a convict labourer.
On February 2nd 1826 he was granted his ticket of leave (34/2170), his district stated as Bathurst.
Later that same year, he married Sohia Jane Collits, the daughter of Pierce on 30th October 1826.
Thomas and Sophia had three children; Thomas 1827, Joseph 1829 and James 1834.
