Baptised 09 Feb 1823, Shearsby, Leicestershire. Convict Record; Coventry Court, Warwickshire, England - 1st Conviction for hunting rabbits on private property, sentenced early 1840's to one month's gaol. Coventry Court, Warwickshire, England - 2nd Conviction for stealing soot from private property, sentenced on 3rd of January 1844 to Transportation to Her Majesty's Colonies for a term of 7 years. Departed Woolwich, London, England on the 14th of June 1845 with 301 convicts onboard. Arrived in Hobart, Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) 94 days later on the 16th of September 1845, on board the "Marion 2" convict ship. The ship's surgeon Jn. W. Elliott reported Emanuel's good conduct onboard & Emanuel was granted a Ticket of Leave on arrival, then granted a Conditional Pardon on the 30th of November 1847 & a Certificate of Freedom on the 9th of February 1852.
