Patrick Rierdan was next placed at the bar, charged with the murder of Patrick Merrigan, on the 12th Dec. at Tipperary, by giving him a blow of a stone on the head, of which he died. After hearing the evidence, the Jury, without leaving the box, gave their verdict—Guilty manslaughter. Tipperary Free Press, 26 Mar 1831. The following persons (44 in number) were transmitted from our County Jail, on yesterday morning, to the Hulk at Cork, under rule of transportation. They were escorted a party of the 1st Dragoon Guards: Edmond Penders, John Donghan.
