Patrick Rierdan was next placed at the bar, charged with the murder of Patrick Merrigan, on the 12th Dec. at Tipperary, by giving him a blow of a stone on the head, of which he died. After hearing the evidence, the Jury, without leaving the box, gave their verdict—Guilty manslaughter. Tipperary Free Press, 26 Mar 1831. The following persons (44 in number) were transmitted from our County Jail, on yesterday morning, to the Hulk at Cork, under rule of transportation. They were escorted a party of the 1st Dragoon Guards: Edmond Penders, John Donghan. David Darmody, Patrick Brin, Martin Daneson, John Carroll, Patrick Carroll, Patrick Hennessy, Patrick Riordan, Miles Carroll, John Fihily, William Hayes, John Delany, Patrick Byrnes, John White, Michael Keeffe, David Brookes, Cornelius Holahan, Maurice Quan, John  Ryan, Michael Connollan, Patrick Colbert, Michael Burke, Philip Maher, Edmond Toohy, Denis Mullaghan, Thomas Britt, Thomas Cantwell, John Purcell, John Hough, John, Kennedy, John Riorden, John Carthy, Michael Cody, Michael Brien, William Lynch, John Flion, Patrick Ward, Cornelius Tucker, Cornelius Ryan, Patrick Hickey, Michael Catkin, Patrick Bryan, John Egan.    Tipperary Free Press, 7 May 1831.
