Alexander Reid, accused of assaulting John Baird, manufacturer, Glasgow, and robbing him of silver watch, and key attached thereto, pleaded Guilty. He wore Waterloo medal. Several certificates of good character were read, one, that he had served in the foot guards, and that had been in several campaigns. Lord Meadowbank commented the crime, and the more especially the was with honourable badge, and observed that it the first time the Court had one of that had one of that description before them. He was then sentenced to for the period of fourteen years. Perthshire Courier, 14 Oct 1819. -------------------------------------------------- Colonial Secretary Index.
