Family connections for Charles (R/hodius) are: ..Charles (R/hodius/ins) was born in Cologne Germany in 1802 & became an architect builder. He was a pupil at Royal Academy of Paris. He was tried for stealing a reticuke at Westminster Middlesex Quarter Sessions on 3 4 1829, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 27 12 1829 after a voyage of 4months on SARAH; he was 5'10". He was a painter also. On 10 7 1832 he received a Ticket of Exemption from Government labour & on 26 2 1834 he received his Ticket of Leave No.34/78. He purchased land in 1835. He taught painting & perspectives & painted portraits in the style of the French Crayon at Hunter St. He married firstly Harriet (Taylor) in 1838 in Sydney.>>> ..[Some details taken from this Website] ..Harriet (Taylor) was born about 1821. They include two oils and some pencil drawings by Charles Rodius, whose studies of heads of New South Wales aborigines also hang in the National Gallery. The recent acquisitions are ten in number and are portraits of local celebrities from 1834-52, one of whom, Sir Henry Parkes is still among us.
