William Riches was convicted at Norfolk on 27/10/1837 for stealing coats. 14 yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) on the ‘Canton’ arriving 12/01/1840.
Gaol Report: convicted before
Hulk Report: good
Ship Surgeon’s Report: well conducted

Single man; aged 27yrs; farm labourer; 5’5”; ruddy complexion; red hair; lt Hazel eyes.

Colony:
17/01/1840 - 18mths Probation.

Died 19/05/1840.
Native place of birth: Norfolk, England.
