William Riddle was 20 years old on arrival in VDL. His native place was Bolton. William was 5’4 ¼” tall, single (although on his conduct record it states that he was married with 5 children (hardly possible at the age of 20), William could read and write, was Protestant, fresh complexion, black hair and whiskers, hazel eyes. Father: John. 9/10/1849: TOL 18/10/1852: Free Certificate 12/1/1854: Married Catherine Ryan (Martin Luther 1852) at Hobart. 3 children listed in VDL but they had 6 more children in NSW. 1901: William died at Mudgee NSW aged about 79. 16/2/1901: William was buried at Mudgee NSW. Catherine died 7/11/1898 aged about 73 also at Mudgee.




Stole some hams and sold one for hock. Married Catherine Ryan in Van Dieman's Land in 1854.
