Patrick Gately, Bryan Hardman, Thomas McGuire. Thomas Bryan, Michael Costello, John White, John Mullady, and Patrick Rochfort were indicted, that they, with other evil disposed persons, did rise and assemble by night, armed, being disguised, wearing badges., assuming the mantle of Ribbandmen, and demanding arms in a forcible manner.—To be Transported for seven years. London Chronicle, 15 March 1820.
1820, 6 March: Committed by the Government to Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin; one of eight men listed as "A convict from the County Roscommon". 1820, 15 April: All eight were discharged and "sent on board the convict ship" (to serve their sentences of 7 years transportation) (see Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924; Dublin Kilmainham 1815-1910).
Crime: Seditious practices; he was tried and convicted at Roscommon along with 7 other men (see NSW, Australia Convict Ship Muster Rolls… 1790-1849).
