Trade, Hairdresser, age 32, native of Isle of France See record for details. Mentions employers under remarks: Lazarus, and Cooley of New Town. Died in a fit of Apoplexy at Launceston, 17 Dec 1858. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A. Stubborn Servant. — Edward Rose, p.h., was charged by his muster, Mr Lazarus, with refusing to clean a fender, when requested to do so by Mrs Lazarus; it was admitted, however, that he subsequently complied with his master's request. The obstinate man was sentenced to 3 months' imprisonment with hard labor. Tasmanian Daily News, 15 Aug 1855. Disobedience of Orders.— Edward Rose, p.h., a man of 'color,' in the service, of Mrs Cooley, of New Town, was charged with disobedience of orders and insolence to his mistress, and was sentenced to seven days' solitary confinement. Tasmanian Daily News, 24 April 1856. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ACCIDENTS AND OFFENCES. A black man named Edward Rose, at Launceston, dropped down dead in a fit of apoplexy. Launceston Examiner, 15 Jan 1859. Death Registration. Launceston District.
