Family connections for John Smith (Sagar) are: SAGER/AR John Smith (Sager) son of William (Sager) was born in 1805 at Bradford West Riding Yorkshire & baptised there on 15 5 1805. He married firstly (1of3) Tabitha (Teal) on 27 9 1824 at Bradford West Riding. As Smith (Sagar) [he later became known as John Smith (Sager)] he was tried for shoplifting at York West Riding Quarter Sessions, sentenced to 14years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 27 8 1829 after a voyage of just 3months on NORFOLK. He could read but not write & was Protestant & became a woolcomber farmer shepherd at Macquarie Plains Daveys Creek Black Swamp.
