The "Hercules" ship was built in 1801 at South Sheilds, England. 1801 voyage from Ireland to New South Wales, Australia. Sailed via Rio de Janeiro and the Cape. A mutiny occurred just prior to their arrival at Rio - after 45 minutes it was quashed but 13 convicts had been killed. Jeremiah Pendergass was named as the ring leader and shot. 44 deaths in total on this voyage. There was then another ship, also named, "Hercules" built 1822 at Whitby, England who made 3 trips to Austraia, in 1825, 1830 & 1832.

Convict Notes
Frederick Scammell was 14 years old and indicted for stealing snuff boxes. He was protestant, single, native place:London, 4'6" tall, ruddy little pocked, light brown hair, chestnut eyes. October 1832: Assigned to J P Webber, Paterson's River. 1837 Muster: Age 18 assigned to Alexander Park, Paterson. 18/11/1839: COF. 1839: Married Lucy Evenden, they had 7 children, the last one born in 1849, so after Fred had died. October 1848: Frederick died, Sydney. Lucy then married Reuben/Rubern Sheather in Yass in 1851, Reuben died in 1904 in Tumbarumba. Lucy died in 1886 in Central Cumberland.
