Edmond Scanlon was one of the many Irish convicts involved in the insurrection against wealthy landholders and he was convicted of assaulting a habitation. Life Sentence at Clare 02/06/1831. Transported to NSW,Australia on the ‘Asia’, departing 06/08/1831, arriving Port Jackson 02/12/1831.
Conditions on this voyage were not good, with 14 deaths and many ill.  Edmond Scanlon was admitted straight to hospital in Sydney but died shortly after.
