Henry Scope, aged 20, and John Laing, aged 34, were convicted of 'larceny in a dwelling house'. Both guilty. Henry transported for 14 years. John Laing transported for life. He was also on board the Tottenham. Henry was 21 years old on arrival, 6'0½" tall, fair ruddy complexion, light sandy hair, grey eyes. Occupation: Coal heaver/Waterman. Colonial Secretary Papers: SCOPE, Henry. Per "Tottenham", 1818 1819 Feb 1: On list of prisoners to be sent to Newcastle per "Lady Nelson" (Reel 6006; 4/3499 p.295) 1830: Henry Scope alias Edward Miller was charged with 'Attempting to leave the Colony' - sentenced to 3 months in an Iron Gang at Parramatta. 9/8/1831: COF 9/7/1832: Permission to marry Phillis Thompson (Competitor) - she was 21 and had a TOL - Henry was 33 and free. 1832: Married at Scots Church, Sydney.
