Ellen SCOTT was convicted at Antrim, Ireand on 6 Jan 1842 for Larceny - stealing a jacket. Previousy steaing boots. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) per the ship “Hope” sailing from Dublin, arriving VDL 17 Aug 1842.
Married woman; aged 34 yrs; housemaid; can read; Roman Catholic religion.
Native place of birth: Co. Wicklow, Ireland (ref. Convict Indent record)
Husand: John, a Sergent Major
Brother: Michael, in the East Indies.
The Convict Indent does not record any children.
Colony of VDL:
Work services. Numerous notes of misconduct.
12 Jan 1849: Free Certificate issued.
