Henry William Seymour was listed as being born in Southwark in 1835 - 21 on arrival. Henry was literate, single, 5'8¾" tall, dark brown hair and eyes, dark complexion, middling stout, slightly pockmarked, anchor, J, right arm. 1861: married Elizabeth Cain/Kane at Perth. Children per WA BDM: 1862: William Richard 1863: Thomas 1865: Elizabeth 1867: David 1869: Margaret 1871: Henry 1873: Ada 15/3/1861 The Perth Gazette: George Cipper, free, Henry Seymour, c.p., and Thomas Duncan, were charged with having assaulted Henry Halbun. As the Defendants did not choose to appear at the time named in the summons, his Worship issued a warrant to arrest them, and on their being brought up on the following morning, were duly lectured for their contempt, and ordered to pay the costs, 14s 6d. The complainant now informed His Worship that he wished to withdraw the charge he had made against the Defendents, to which his Worship consented. ___________________ Was then reconvicted under the alias of 'Joseph'. Listed as a groom. 14/4/1864 The West Australian Times: Reg. v. Joseph Seymour, charged with stealing a cow and calf, the property of his master, Malachi Meagher. Malachi Meagher, farmer of the Middle Swan -Sent prisoner to Perth on the 2nd February with a cow and calf, telling him to leave them at Haysom's until he came next morning. Did not authorise him to sell them ; owed him 2s. wages. Next saw the cow and calf at Guildford. James Gahagan-Bought the cow and calf of the prisoner at Guildford on the 2nd February, He said he was authorised to sell them for wages. Gave £4. 'Bill of sale produced was given by prisoner. Verdict- Guilty; sentence- 3 years' penal servitude. 1873: Worked as a boatman on the Swan River lighters transporting goods from Fremantle up the river. Possible death: 22/8/1874: Henry Seymour died (listed as William Henry Seymour) died of diptheria at Perth, 42 years old. Elizabeth Kane Seymour died 1897.
