James married Hannah Tyndall in 1822 at Castlereagh. They had a daughter, Matilda, born 1829. This marriage does not seem to have lasted at all and by 1830, Hannah was with Thomas Murphy. Exeter Flying Post Thu 6 Jan 1814 p. 4 Last week was committed to Southgate prison, by the Right Worshipful the Mayor, James Sharland, for breaking open a box belonging to John Ford, of this city, victualler, and stealing therefrom 10 seven-shilling pieces, 2 guineas, a half-guinea, 11 dollars, and several other articles.
