On 11th January 1871, Thomas married Sophia Edwards (nèe Andlezark). Sophia was the widow of William Edwards (Convict, 1819, "Globe") who had died some 6 years prior to the marriage. Sophia had 7 children from her first marriage. Sophia was the daughter of Thomas Andlezark (Convict, 1802, “Perseus”) and his wife Anna.
