James had been transported to NSW on the 'John Barry' in 1819 for stealing a piece of cloth. His sentence was 7 years. 19/12/1825: James received a COF and then "went home in the 'John'. There was also a George Sidnall on board the 'John Barry' who was tried on the same date and place as James, could possibly be his brother! On arrival in VDL, Jame's age was given as 28, which would make his birth year C1803. Father: William 1765-1800 Mother: Mary Cogswell 1757-1830 James was single, 5’7” tall, sallow complexion, light blue eyes, light brown hair, eyes sunken, high cheek bones, several scars on right arm, large scars inside left arm. 2/7/1840: TOL 9/8/1844: Recommended for a CP July 1845/or 1847: CP approved 14/10/1840: Married Elizabeth Pendleton (Hindostan) at Launceston James was 37 and Elizabeth 42.
