William Simpson was convicted at Norfolk, England on 03/07/1839 for Burglary and stealing wearing apparel. 10yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) on the ‘Duke of Richmond’, arriving 12/03/1844.

THIS CONVICT HAS BEEN ENTERED ON THIS WEBSITE TWICE.

His original journey from England was on Mangles, and he arrived on Norfolk Island.
He was later moved from Norfolk Island to VDL on the Duke of Richmond.
Newspaper reports that the Duke of Richmond carried 200 prisoners on this journey from Norfolk Island to VDL.
His Tasmanian conduct record refers to his arrival on Mangles, written along the side.
