ohn William Sly was born on 25 May 1769 in Shoreditch, Middlesex, the son of Ann and Robert. He married Elizabeth Flamston on 10 February 1810 in England. They had nine children in 23 years. He died on 28 December 1829 in Sydney, New South Wales, at the age of 60.

Old Bailey Ref: t18091101-40 He was found guilty of forgery again and hanged in Sydney NSW 31/12/1829. HIs wife Elizabeth Flamston remarried James Chard.

John sly re-offended in sydney for forgery and was hung at sydney jail in george st 28th December 1829
