The Convict Indentures state that John Smith was 16 years old. He could read and write: Religion Roman Catholic; status single and a native of County Cork. He was an errand boy. He was convicted of robbing till (stealing money)at Cork on 29 March 1828. He was sentenced to 7 years. Physical attributes - height 5 feet 1 1/2 inches; complexion ruddy and freckled; hair dark brown and eyes blue. Transport number 116. He was assigned to John Pugh, Newcastle. Ticket of leave number 33/318 and conditional pardon number 35/258.
