Thomas Soper was 19 years old when transported for stealing a shirt from Thomas Cornish to be transported 7 years. A prisoner tried at County sessions at the castle. Previous convictions: Thomas Soper for stealing 6 pounds of rags, property of William Harris, imprisonment six months, Exeter sessions. Thomas Soper convicted of stealing a gold ring & various other items, property of Bridget Portbury, sentence at Devon qtr sessions, imprisonment 3 months Exeter castle. Thomas Soper apprentice to Mr Kingdon, for assaulting a girl in a public street fined 2s 6d, 6/7/1824: of Emu Plains. 'on return of fines & punishments inflicted by the Bench of Evan' 19/10/1826: COF 1828 Census: Thomas Soper aged 28 arrived on Earl St Vincent, 1820, 7y sentence : Protestant : Residence, Mr Conells? : (Free or Bond? - 'FS') : Province, New South Wales. 1841 Census: Thomas Soper of Bamerang, Illawarra, (St Vincent) a tenant, the only person living in a wooden dwelling. 12/12/1841: Thomas Soper b.Exeter, Devon, married Martha Noble (niece of Dr. McKenzie, she was born in 1820 in Irvinestown, Fermanagh, Ireland and died 30/5/1890 at Nowra NSW aged 70). They had 8 children. Charles, Noble & Thomas farmers of Cambewarra 1872 Greville's Directory. 6/6/1877: Thomas died at Shoalhaven, NSW.
