Christopher SPACHET was convicted at the CCC, London on 16 Dec 1839 for Larceny - steal from a shop in Whitechapel. Previous conviction. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) per the ‘Hindostan’ arriving 19 Jan 1841.
Aged 16yrs; labourer; single man; 5’; fresh complexion; brown hair; blue eyes.
Place of Birth: Shoreditch, London.
2 yr Probation Period in VDL.
Numerous notes of misconduct on record.
27 June 1845 Ticket of Leave granted but cancelled in 1846.
21 Dec 1846: Certificate of Freedom issued.
(A Christopher Spachett left VDL on 28 Dec 1846 on the ship “John & Charlotte” from Hobart bound for Port Albert, Victoria - but not specified if this same person. ref. CUS36/1/306, although n uncommon name at this time in the Colony. Also a return in 1848 as a steerage passenger Christopher Spachet on the ‘Miranda’ from Port Albert to Hobart - ref. MB2/391/10)
